Eastern Subterranean Termites (Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar) are found all along the

Eastern Seaboard from Nova Scotia to the southern tip of Florida, we fall about half way between the two. Since the Eastern Subterranean Termite is the only species we have great concern about we will simply call them Subterranean Termites or just Termites from here on. Subterranean Termites need two things to survive, cellulose, or wood, and moisture, the cellulose they can derive from most any plant material, but they prefer wood and the moisture they derive from the soil. Being so near to sea level soil moisture is plentiful. Termites are indiscriminate as to where they get their wood a fallen tree in a forest, which is their job in nature, or your home, which makes them a pest. If we are honest with ourselves we realize that it was us, man, that invaded the Termites' world in the first place. None the less we cannot tolerate them in our homes.

When it comes to termites one size does not fit all, so BUGS-4-LESS offers three different termite protection plans, each effective and each having it's own good reasons for making it your choice. Listed below are our three termite programs and some information about each.

Perimeter-Plus Liquid Treatment

Our third choice is a more traditional approach, where the exterior perimeter is treated using a liquid Termiticide. Special attention and additional and possibly alternate application methods may be employed in the areas where Termites have been found to be active and high risk areas. When no Termite activity is found there is always that great feeling of relief, but left unprotected your home is still vulnerable to Termites. A preventive liquid perimeter treatment can bring a great deal of peace of mind knowing that the Termiticide is there doing it's job of protecting your home from Termite invasion.

Whether the perimeter treatment is remedial or preventive it comes with a warranty that is renewable each six months. Each renewal includes an inspection of your home to make certain that the Termites have not returned. With this treatment program Bugs 4 Less offers two types of Termite warranty, one is a retreatment guarantee, the other is a structure damage warranty.*

   Perimeter Treatment With Monitoring

As and added layer of protection Perimeter-Plus customers may opt to have a Termite monitoring system installed to help alert them to renewed, or in the case of preventive treatment new, Termite activity in the vicinity of their home. Just a little bit more peace of mind knowing that your home, your biggest investment, is protected from Termite invasion and damage.

   Baiting/Monitoring

In-ground Termite baits with quarterly bait station inspection and monitoring is a program that works very well in two different ways. One, for the customer with an existing Termite infestation bait and monitoring stations are placed around the home for the Termites to feed on the toxic bait and return it to the colony to be shared with the Queen. Once the queen has consumed the toxic bait and dies the rest of the colony will also die off. For those who do not have termites and want to keep it that way monitoring stations are placed around the home and inspected every three months for Termite activity. If Termites begin feeding in one or more monitoring stations the inert bait is replaced with a toxic one and as described above the colony will die before invading your home. We live very close to the water and very often the water table is very close to the top of the soil, or a home may be very near the water's edge. In both of these case baits are the best choice and in some cases due to label restrictions on liquid Termiticides the only legal choice.

   Spot Treatment with Baiting and Monitoring

Sometimes a good choice localized, or spot, treatment in the area where Termites are active plus, bait and monitoring stations placed around the home and inspected every three months. A good reason to make this choice might be because the Termites have already moved some distance above ground level in the structure and or done more than superfluous to minor damage. When we have this kind of situation we want quick results and baits do take some time in part because the Termites must begin feed on the toxicant in the bait stations before there can be any results.
